So our school is currently doing Benchmark Testing which takes a total of four days over the course of two weeks in which time I do not see my first four periods of the day. It also means my classroom has to be ready for testing so I can't do anything that requires preparation or too much mess. So I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to experiment with construction paper pencils.
I gave the students a piece of black construction paper, gave them a set of headphones and music and just let them unwind after a four hour test. Some students really showed some good stuff. It was no major lesson plan or anything, just a free art day where they got to work on something of their choice.
